Best of the Rest 2009

Steve Wells (5 games)

After finally breaking into the team, Steve then became unavailable frequently and couldn't get back in. Will be most remembered for 3 excellent catches away at Grantham that helped secure an unlikely victory. A prospect for the future, especially with some nets to work on his batting, and to fine tune his bowling potential.

Nick Lee (2 games)

Played a couple of away games in the midweek league to help out. Nick did well in the field, but will be most remembered for his appearance in the sixes (representing Old Brunnians) where he bowled an over which went for 26 runs, helping the Tarts to victory.

Jed Selby (1 game)

Played against Boston away, got a duck, but provided good work in the slip cordon

Pete Taylor (1 game)

Gibbo's mate helped out in the first game of the season scoring an important 13 against Claypole as he dug in. Impressed everyone with his drinking capacity.

Nick Sheppard (1 game)

Played away at Swiss Cottage in the midweek league, and scored 9, before a Tim Dyer "Clear the long boundary" dare saw the end of his innings. Only seen out in town since.

Matthew "AGF" Grace (1 game)

Just the one appearance for Adam's ginger friend. Failed with the bat, but impressed in the field.

Harry Hay (1 game)

A great cameo from Paul Stewart's mate's brother's colleague's dentist's wife's brother in law away at Stamford. Harry was commited in the field and even picked up a Stamford Superstar wicket, with his trademark double bouncer.

Steve Barnes (1 game)

Just one game for Barnesy who played against Blankney early on; a game he won't want to remember with a drop and a duck.

Stephen "The Staz" Stasiak (2 games)

Staz played a couple of times this season but due to the squad picking itself, was hardly asked to play. Looked a bit ropey away at Shia Sports as he was blasted for over 20 in the first over of the match. Still a Baston legend.

Tom Bedford (1 game)

Just the one game, away at Peterborough Lions where he picked up the wicket of Sean McMullan, but didn't get a bat.

Scott Richardson (4 games)

A few games for Scotty and a couple of cameos as a substitute fielder. Opened the bowling and batting in the Carrot Crunch Cup and is definitely one for the future.

Jon Stainsby (2 games)

Played in the Carrot Crunch Cup notching a selfish 50*. Upset everyone with his "village" comments in this friendly competition. Most remembered for his commentary during the Hodgkinson Cup.

Callum Stewart (1 game)

The youngest member of the Baston squad, Callum deputised in a midweek game, and despite not getting to bat, he performed well in the field and did himself proud. Another good prospect in the Baston youth set-up. Has some great impressions.

Pete Phoenix (1 game)

The late Pete Phoenix played away at Tolethorpe and picked up premier batsman (and Tim's best mate) Andy Brown's wicket, as he rolled back the years with his left arm floaters.

Billy Hall (4 games)

Played early season in the midweek league, but couldn't force his way back into the team after being dropped. A couple of good batting displays backed up with tidy bowling; typical of Big Bad Billy.
