Knowing that I would be writing this weeks report, I managed to google a few interesting facts about the town of Grantham.
Firstly, the top five most popular things to in Grantham were:
1. Leave on a train
2. Throw stones at cars on the A1
3. Pay council tax
4. Watch the traffic lights change
5. Leave on a bus
More disturbing was the fact that three of the worlds top tyrants were born in Grantham;
1 Radavan Karodic
2 Pol Pot (actually from a small village on the outskirts)
3 M.Thatcher
Worst lookalike of all time. Elite cyclist (& probable doper) Peter Sagan and disgraced former skipper Dyer
Anyway, Adam won the toss and decided to bat. Grantham managed to scratch together 136ish all out. With Lamin refusing to bowl, Adam had to turn to Liam to bowl a variety of filth. Tim Dyer bowled like a God taking three wickets, two caught and a swift stumping by the people’s captain.
A beautiful spread was put on by Sue, Belinda, Robyn, Deb and Marcel. Teas were excellent as well, especially the scones. But the lack of fruit salad was noticed.
The lack of Sporty Scotty was also noticed, however he has recently been seen searching out members of the Household Cavalry.
Nice to have two umpires, neither of whom had spent their entire playing career for the opposition.
No genuine look-alikes appeared this week but there was an amazing visit of a sound-alikey Richard Coles from the Communards.
The Baston innings started bad with the early dismissal of Mark. Ironic that the man who buys everything can’t buy a run at the moment.
Lamin (27) & Liam (21) the only batsmen to score any real runs
The innings can be summed up by the fact that there were 6 scores of zero from Adam, Biggsy, Tim (triggered for the second week running), Hawk, Dave C, and Big Dave. Finally mustering a poor score of 77.
Our local vicar, Neil, had to leave early as he was invited to a vicars and tarts evening, and he needed to find a vicar who would accompany him.
Neil was third highest scorer with 12
Lloydie found the container in excellent order, and the evening was enriched by a visit from the Malton family.
