Not so long ago it would have been a crisis but such is the size of the young squad, thanks to all the hard work put in by the Stags, the coaches still have selection problems.
So Phil Wallis and Phil Henderson, who both had excellent starts to the season, have to be content with places on the bench.
Another new face in the first team squad will be Dave Garside [junior!]. Dave has started to play rugby after putting his boxing career on the back burner and has come on leaps and bounds in what is effectively his first season. The second row will be on the bench.
Dan Boatman is the main change from the side which beat Sandal last week. He replaced Tim Sawyer in the second half when Tim suffered his injury and the Scottish Under 19 hopeful keeps his place.
The backs stay the same. Peter Hodgson led from the front in the absence of Allan Milne and scored two excellent tries, while Greg Edwards looked specially strong in defence. Davy Tighe will be at 10 as Paul Williamson continues to make the 9 shirt his own and Davy will skipper the side against his former club.
Stockton look to be struggling to recover from the loss of inspirational coach Alan Brown who is having his swansong in the National Leagues with Darlington.
Last season he turned us over twice in games we should have won but hopefully those lessons will have been learnt.
High scoring fly half Jeremy Good is back for Stockton replacing Tom Armstrong who returns to the wing. Props Simon Brown and Jon Sill also return allowing Dan Muirhead to return to hooker. Dave Moulder gets an opportunity to start as open side flanker with Stuart Ford standing aside. Dan Cowell retains the full back slot after a good display at Sheffield last week.
West: Masshedar, Thomas, Edwards, Hodgson, Weegram, Tighe [capt], Williamson, Cholmondeley, Carr, Robinson, Rudd, Davies, D Boatman, Tones, J Boatman. Reps: Henderson, Wallis, Garside.
