That included Aaron Myers who will be playing for the Under 17's this year and James Greensmith who will be an Under 18 this season. Myers is a highly promising flanker who is already registered with the Falcons Academy and he wasn't daunted by the size of the home players. Both he and Greensmith were confined to the wings for the time they were on the pitch but did themselves every credit.
The main point of the exercise was to get some hard tackling in. Rod's brief was that he didnt mind Blaydon running round us to score - he didn't want them coming through us.
As a result the forwards put in some serious tackling and held back a much heavier pack. Phil Henderson had an excellent game at second row and Phil Gilbraith cleaned up a llt of ball at No 8 in the absence of Stuart Bennett.
The backs looked sharp in possession and Toddy should have had a couple of tries before Panda got out sole try of the afternoon. Blaydon had run in half a dozen but most of those had come down the wings so it was a case of mission more or less accomplished.
Billingham will provide different opposition in what will be more of traditional 80 minute game.
