Weddings and Munich beer festivals impacted last week's selections for all three of our league sides. It's better this week with two of last season's most imprressive players returning to the first team squad. Players' Player of the Season Aidan Jackson-Smith will be in his new position in the back row, while Max Tennant will have to wait for his chance from the bench.
Otherwise, it's very much the same first team which came away fron Percy Park with one bonus point; should have had two bonus points if a penalty kick had been aimed at the posts instead of the corner and might have been five if the defence in the opening ten minutes of the scond half had been up to scratch.
A few early season lessons to be gained from that game and they will be required against a Ryton side which has provided tough warm-up opposition in recent seasons.
That came to end when Ryton were promoted after finishing second in Counties One North East behind Novos. Those two sides opened their season in Regional 2 last week by facing each other at Barmoor with Novos taking the spoils in a 21-42 result.
The Stags will head up the A19 looking to get their first league points with a side which will feature Adam Hutchinson, Liam Liston and Jack Angus in the front row. The hosts began their season with a trip to Billingham IIs going down 47-12
