A great day was had by all, the sun shone but the wind was cold. All of us supporters who turned up in shorts and short sleeves soon were running for our fleeces and blankets.

We started our competition against Hashimoto coming away winners 50 points to 0. The team had decided on a rolling subs system with the try scorer coming off the pitch to allow for rest periods. Davy Tighe was not too happy to be replaced after scoring after only 2 minutes. He soon realised that if he passed the ball he would be on the pitch for longer.

Our second game was againts Houghalll College which was a much closer game. We won easily but it would have been much easier if Paul Miller had not been pushed into the dead ball area whilst trying to score behind the posts!

Our 3rd game was against a team made up of Nissan Engineers which again we won easily. Paul Rudd scored within the first minute but we over-rulled our replacement system for this as he had not been on the pitch long enough.

THe organisers had a change of rules, due to a number of side pulling out of the competition, which meant that all of the days results would be put inot a league rtable with the top team playing the 2nd placed team in the final. We were the clear leaders with a 105 points difference with medicals finishing second and westoe finishing third.

Westo were none too pleased about this and made three official complaints. They then approached us to ask if we would play them after the final as they were disappointed not to have got to play us. We gracefully declined.

We went on to win the final 30 - 12 against Medicals.

Our squad for the day was D. Tighe (Capt), M. Todd, P. Miller, P. Hodgson, A. Hare, D. Thomas, B. Cullinane, P. Rudd, J. Boatman, C. Miller.

Man of the match(es) would be a close draw between Brett & Jonny Boatman with probably Brett coming out on top due to his hard hitting tackles during the day.

We left as champions to retire to the cricket club to celebrate our success leaving Westoe still whinging!
