West's first team had the legs on the day and some decent ball from the returning Jake Linighan in the line-out, plus a solid show from the pack where the likes of Adam Hutchinson and Aidan Jackson-Smith were excellent in the loose.
Skipper Ryan Painter got things going after four minutes - forcing his way through a gap from close range - and Sam Heron gave his kicking boots one last highly successful outing before the summer break.
The hosts got in the scoresheet with a penalty before Andy Turner increased his try tally - bursting over from a catch and drive. Heron converted and then sent Ollie Connolly in with a well-timed pass which was quickly followed by an excellent finish from Adam Hutchinson (above). Hutch showed a neat sidestep to secure that try bonus point with less than half an hour gone.
The pressure was maintained and the fifth try came from Painter courtesy of that solid line-out.
Horden kept on battling and got a try right on the half-time whistle as they created space out on the left to make it 42-8 at the break.
The West wingers were to the fore in the second half. Both Max Tennant and Lewis Scott looked dangerous all afternoon, and both finally got on the scoresheet. Max was first to cross as he stepped inside two tackles, followed by a lightning break from Lewis Scott down the right after Will Hilditch timed his pass to perfection.
Hilditch could have scored a couple himself with breaks from his own half, but it was Horden who got themselves another score this time going over from close range.
On their next attack Hilditch again broke play up with an interception where he decided to give his legs a rest to send Scott on another lightning run down the right wing.
That proved to be the end of the West scoring as Referee Michael Brace yellow carded Ollie Connolly,as he tried to rip the ball, quickly followed by Matt Siddle for a deliberate knock on.
Horden took advantage and, having spotted West's predilection for last minute scores, finished things off - again from close range.
Job done if not mission accomplished. However, the development of the younger players and continued commitment from experienced players, such as Adam Coates, bodes well for next season. Coatesy, now helping coach the forwards, has several appearance and try scoring milestones in his sights after he fully recovers from his broken arm.
