The coaching staff thought Xmas had come early with forwards and backs in abundance. The average age this week being a sprightly 19 whereas last week was like watching the old 1985 film cocoon!! To be honest our evergreen players where actually pretty glad they didn’t play due to the pea soup like conditions and bone shuddering freezer like air temperatures.
This weeks MOM is yet again a close call and was a difficult choice between 5 players. Unfortunately this week didn’t include the hat-trick seeking Liam Larkin.
New it at 5 was Winger Mark Lund who was in the mix for his secure defence throughout the game along with his ball carrying gain’s when with ball in hand.
Straight in at 4 was centre Whilditch. His silky evasion skills proved difficult for the opposition as he made numerous breaks in the second half along with bagging himself a nice little try
Up three places to 3 was Alfie Powell. The young whippet came on in the second half at full back with some aggressive runs including an outstanding 80m try.
Up four places to 2 was the utility forward Brown. He was another player who found himself amongst the selection with his adaptability to play either Hooker, 6, 7 or 8. Although he was used as a rolling sub due to coming back from injury, the empowering unit carried well and made his aggressive presence felt at the breakdown.
Finally, this weeks Number 1 and MOM goes to another player who has been away from the paddock for well over a month but put in a shift like he’d never been away. He was not only at the breakdowns faster than the Omicron variant but made his fair share of tackles and line breaks. Unfortunately his game ended abruptly in the last 10 minutes due to cramp which believe it or not lasted until around 7pm until his body relaxed only after consuming copious amounts of alcohol on the Xmas jumper night out.
So without further ado, this weeks MOM is Isaac. Well done Izzie
