Head coach Iain Dixon and skipper Dan Boatman will want to forget the scoreline in their last game in charge, but will remember with pride the spirit the side showed on the broad expanse of the Northern Echo Arena.
For long periods we actually enjoyed more territory in the Durham Senior cup final - only to come up against some superb running from the home side.
Winger Adam Radwan ran in three tremendous tries - all a joy - with centre James Fitzpatrick close behind in the free running stakes. Only one of the ten home tries coming from short range with the rest being scored from close to the half way line as the home backs seized on any mistakes or half tackles.
We had chances to get points on the board in the first half but bravely opted to kick penalties to corners. Instead, we had to be content with a 65th minute try from Adam Coates for the consolation. The prop diving over in the corner after a long pass from Gavin Painter after Mowden had messed up a line-out.
With half a dozen regulars missing the youngsters got a chance to play at the Arena and 18 year old prop Scott Coull will always remember where he made his first team debut.
