We travel to Doncaster in the knowledge that a five-point win could do us a power of good at the top of the league. Closest rivals Penrith and Pocklington play each other with the Cumbrians next up at Brinkburn in a week’s time.
But old rivals Wheatley Hills are first up and they will desperate to restore some pride with their first win of the season against one of the top sides. They always have a heavyweight pack which used to make Brunel Road something of a fortress, while their form on the road has always let them down with too many players seemingly unwilling to travel.
Hills did put up some stern resistance in the first encounter which was well reffed by Tom Lyons from Potomac in the USA. Liam Checksfield got a hat trick in the 36-7 victory but, of course, he is still out of action with his broken hand. His pot is due to come off soon followed by a few weeks of rehab.
Despite a two week lay off there are still plenty of players not available for selection including Michale Hogan, Adam Coates, Peter Youll, Rob Thorn, and Eldon and Aaron Myers.
However, one bonus is that front row Jordan Foulds has now turned 18 which means he can play in his favoured position in senior rugby, and he will be on the bench.
Paul Moss is also fit and he will slot into his favoured inside centre position alongside Greg Edwards
