We sneaked that one 33-32 despite looking vulnerable in the closing minutes as Driff forced a few penalties close to our line. There was a big sigh of relief from home supporters when Danny Boatman was penalised for pulling down in a line-out only for the decision to be reversed as the visiting skipper dropped his knee into Danny's back.
Driff were a very decent outfit on the day, but have endured a difficult run against the top sides - losing their last four games to Alnwick, Penrith, City and Pocklington 38-0 last week. As a result they find themselves just above the relegation zone.
Once again wel travel with a much changed side. Anticipated Christmas Party hangovers come into the equation - alongside injuries and work commitments.
Hooker Andrew Rollins misses his first game of the season, while Adam Coates has been unable to train. Back rows Aaron Myers, Alex Barker and Lee Maddison are all away with second row Joe Rafferty one of those enjoying his company's Christmas party.
In the backs top try scorer Liam Checksfield is at a Scottish Exiles Under 18’s training camp and Will Hilditch is spending Christmas on the beach in Australia.
Fortunately, prop Michael Hogan (pictured) is fit again after a six week lay-off; Eldon Myers returns to take Checksfield’s place in the centre and Luke Mallinson is back to take over on one wing with Rob Thorn on the other.
Jake Linghan did a great job as a late stand-in for John Bunter last week, and he keeps his place with Bunter also returning to replace Joe Rafferty.
Greg Edwards provides the backs cover with the up and coming Jordan Foulds and Adam Brown providing forwards cover.
