There's also reports of Adam Larkin returning to training, which is more good news as we look to get through our injury problems.

Both Gav Painter and Stu Waites are recovering but will be out for some weeks following their misfortunes in the win over Morley.

Zac Southern came in at fly half at Driffield and played well in a side which  might have sneaked a win - Eldon Myers almost getting to a grubber kick, which would have secured the win and given him his hat trick.

Eldon is currenty figuring in a Royal Navy side  preparing for the big game against the Army at Twickenham next month, so he will also be missing this week together with brother Aaron who has work commitments.

We do, however,  have two players returning from injury in Chris Atkins and Liam Bailey. Chris played for the Stags last week so comes into the back row with John Bunter continuing in the second row after his impressive try scoring run out at Driffield.

In truth there’s little at stake for both West and Alnwick this week apart from pride. Both clubs are effectively fighting for the third place in North One East with Doncaster Phoenix nailed in for the promotion spot and Morley for the play-off position.

Alnwick arrive at Brinkburn in fourth place and three points behind us. However, the Northumbrian’s have a game in hand.

Alnwick won a close first encounter back in October. Elusive full back James Bird was a major factor - setting up Alnwick’s only try and kicking the rest of his side’s tries in their 19-13 win.
