Clubhouse Update

Clubhouse Update
You will all be pleased to know that we should be given the keys to the new clubhouse in the next few weeks...

inside club

The function room pictured last week - it has moved on a lot since.

The bars are going in now and as soon as the floor scree dries out the carpets and other fittings will go in.

Our best guess is that we'll be able to serve you some refreshments in the two bars in the Function Room on the Easter weekend.

On the Saturday the Colts will be hosting touring side Old Halesonians followed by a WestJest comedy night. That will be  followed by a Platinum club get together with Lee Maddison on the Sunday where you'll also be able to have a look at the six dressing rooms,  physio suite, fitness room etc.

Of course, there is still lots to be done before the club is in the shape we ultimately want it to be. The Platinum club is doing a tremendous job in getting funds together for the Club Bar and there is lots of landscaping we want  to do to make the most of the space around the building.

Hopefully, we can achieve all of that during the summer so we can go ahead with a big formal opening during the Rugby World Cup -  in either September or October. Watch this space.

Hopefully, you can all do your bit to help us achieve all of that. We are launching a Clubhouse Membership scheme using our new electronic till system. For £20 you will be able to become a member and receive your own loyalty card which will entitle you to discounts on bar purchases which will be the equivalent of 20p off a pint.

Active playing members can buy their cards at the same price and they will receive the equivalent of 30p off every pint.

You will also have the opportunity to load money onto your card so you won't need to bring cash to the club. A  number of members have already promised to put at least £500 on their cards and this will be a massive help in meeting all of the start-up bills for furniture, wifi etc etc. Something new seems to come out of the woodwork every day!

Dave Harding is collating our memberships and he can be contacted at  david.harding04@btinternet.com . It would be a big help if you could let him know if you want to front load your card to help with those initial bills.

You will  of course, also be able to arrange your memberships and get your card as soon as the club opens.

In the longer term the Platinum Club has the following invitation for you:

The Platinum Club continues to raise funds to build your club bar (Phase 2). We are hoping you are able and willing to help towards the cost of buying the new furniture and the build itself.

When, as a group of former players we had the idea to raise the £40,000 needed to buy the materials for the club bar, we didn’t realise the generosity of members, through attending functions, donations and loans, would get us to our target so quickly.

We need to continue raising funds to help construct and fit out the bar. We are hoping to persuade you to donate £5 per month by standing order to help the cause. Initially for a 12 month period (aiming at buying the furniture) but it would be great if you could let it run until we have paid for everything and repaid the loans kindly given to us by individual members. Obviously, there is no obligation as this would be a standing order, you are in control. The bank details are:-

Barclays Bank

A/C Name     WHRFC Platinum Club

A/C No           23439763

Sort code       20-82-23

Thanks again for all your support so far.

Really looking forward to my first pint in there. I can only see the club going from strength to strength with these facilities and hope it attracts some old faces to return and for some new faces to get involved.

I should have mentioned that we are going to keep the Buy A Brick campaign going for a few weeks after the clubhosue is opened but then we will have to get all the names put on the wall in the entrance hall.
So if your name isn't on there soon it will be too late . Hint.
