Katy and teammate Tamara Taylor were guests of honour at the function, which included workshops and a keynote speech from IRB member John Spencer. He gave a refreshingly frank appraisal of funding, the costs of running the IRB and debunking the notion that just taking part is good enough. "It's not," he said. "It's all about winning, and there is no harm in our young players wanting to win every time they go on the pitch." As part of the build up the men's World Cup will be making an appearance in Hartlepool sometime in August. Further details nearer the date. |
