Gav, who has been working offshore, replaces Stu Waites who is off on a well earned break in the sun. Nathan Myers and Andrew Dixon are also missing for similar reasons.

The versatile Ross Wood will be at hooker with Sam Miller fit again to replace Myers.

Otherwise, it's the same team which put up a solid display against second placed Harrogate last week. The visitors managed a couple of tries late in the game, while Andrew Dixon was off the field after complaining too long and too hard about the visiting touch judge flagging before a try wide on the right.

The pair shared a drink after when the former County skipper apologised for his reaction. The TJ explained that he had been flagging because he hadn't realised that 'Gate had taken a quick throw in behind his back.

The errant flag had caused some confusion in the West ranks, but not enough to hide the fact that a couple of missed tackles were the real reason the visitors were able to make a vital score - closely followed by Dixon's exit from the action.

Let's hope for less controversy against Burnage. The Stockport side arrive in good form and are having a strong season thanks, in part, to the arrival at fly half of the experienced Ross Winney. He played professional rugby at Wakefield, Plymouth Albion and Orrell and captained Macclesfield before joining Burnage last summer.
