In the October game at Brinkburn Lymm were leading 5-0 with West throwing the kitchen sink, and the contents of the beer cellar, at them in the closing stages. A Lymm prop was sin-binned as a result, and then a second row,  who was the stand-in prop received a blood injury.

Lymm had run out of replacements, but bizarrely the ref called the sinbinned player back on so uncontested scrums were avoided. There appears to be no mention of this law in the RFU handbook.

Lymm held out and say they still discuss these strange events in their own clubhouse.

The return game at Beechwood passed without controversy, and without much excitement either as it was a 3-3 draw.

This time aroiund we will be happy with points rather than thrillls. The West side will have the same pack which started last week with the exciting addition of young Sam Miller joining Andrew Dixon on the bench.

Sam is a Falcons Academy and North of England front row who has starred throughout his minis and juniors years at West. He is still only 17, so won't be able to play front row, but will gain valuable experience as one of a crop of young players such as Nathan Myers who are coming through the ranks and promising a bright future.

In the backs Andrew Foreman has family commitments, but Greg Edwards has finally shaken off an ankle injury and comes strraight back into the centre following the return of Luke Watson and David Heckles to Horden.

Those are the only changes to the squad after the soul searching following the sickening home defeat by Waterloo two weeks ago. 

That game was seemingly won at half time, and there has been a full inquest as to what went wrong in the second half. The result following a clear the air team meeting was big numbers putting lots of effort in at training.

Lots more effort will be needed on the pitch if we are to move out of the danger zone. At one stage Lymm were down there too before picking up some form in the last two games beating both Penrith and Rossendale. Both games were at home after Rossendale switched the fixture because their Marl Pitts ground was once again unfit.
