The grant applications have gone to SportEngland, Mondegreen, who administer landfill tax, and the Rugby Football Union.
The more substantial grant applications have gone to SportEngland, who will consider the application in the New Year and make a decision in early Spring, and Mondegreen. The latter is considering our application because the project has the full support of local waste management experts Niramax - major community supporters for various projects throughout the town.
The club has applied for outline planning for the new clubhouse, which would be sited behind the posts at the Elwick Road end.
It would include six full sized dressing rooms, changing faciilities for officials, a fitness room, first aid and physio room, club bar and a 200 seat community room for a wide range of uses from Zumba classes to formal functions.
Decisions on the funding are expected in March. If successful we would expect to start work next summer for completion eary in 2014.
