The Bucks have an early opportunity to get the 54-8 drubbing by Acklam out of their system when they host Hartlepool IIs in the semi-final of the Pyman Shield on Thursday night at Brinkburn [kick off 6.30] .

The Tees Valley decider was the veritable game of two halves with the Bucks only trailing 5-3 at halftime. The visitors made several key changes at half time and went on to run in some excellent tries  including four from Ben Forbes.

It was the heaviest defeat the Bucks have experienced and Martin Todd and Paul Williamson will be looking to lift the   younger players for the cup game.
