| Hythe 3's vs O.T's & Romsey 2's |
| Hythe Taught a Masterclass by O.T's |
Hythe suffered a 72 run defeat at the hands of O.T's & Romsey 2's on Sunday after their opponents knocked up 165 for 3 off their 12 overs.
If your waiting for the Colonals report - sorry I think he was tooo embarrased about the result to do one. But in fact it shouldn't have been Rob that was embarrased but the stud from Bristol Uni who came back for the weekend - let three though his legs for 4's, run out poor Archie before he faced a ball and then took 7 overs to score 11 inc a 5.
But it wasn't all Jonjo's fault as Hythe came up against top opposition brought up with the indoor game. O.T's batted first and you could see it wasn't going to be Hythe's day when Zacs first over went for 17 inc 3x4's. Next over from Saunders went for 10 and Whytehead retired on 30* in only the 3rd over of the innings - O.T's 38-0 off 3. Whytehead's innings included 4x4's & 2x6's.
Kev McCarthy's 4th over went for 13 as Collins & Smith began to hit the back wall. By 6 overs O.T's had moved onto 74-0. Next over went for 18 but Jack Knight-Owen did get the wicket of Smith for 19 - caught by Millar. Next over Saunders run out Collins for 14 - O.T's 105-8 off 8. Skipper Newman hit a quick fire 29* inc 2x4's & 2x6's. Hythe did get a third wicket when Jordan was run out by McCarthy for 9 but O.T's finished on 165 for 3 - G.Flack 17*. For Hythe Knight-Owen took the only wicket but Kev McCarthy's 0-36 off 3 was the most economical.
13.5 an over needed Hythe opened with Gilbert & Stovell - well for 1 ball before a mix up and Gilbert was run out for 0 without facing. 16-1 after 3 Hythe were struggling to get the ball away to the walls. Things improved in the 4th with 16 coming from it - helped by the O.T's bowling persistant wides and a Saunders boundary. With stud playing & missing more times than hitting the ball Hythe struggled to 70 for 1 off of 7 (22 off O.T's at the same stage).
A wicket in the 8th when Saunders was was caught by Jordan off Smith for 8 was followed three balls later with Stovell being dismissed in the same process for 11. Two more wickets fell in the 9th over - Millar being caught off Collins for 7 followed by a quack for Kev McCarthy. Hythe 78 for 5 off 9 with just JKO left to bat. 7 came off the 10th over but in the 11th JKO was bowled by Smith for 7 - Hythe all out for 93 inc 50 in wides.
So 1 win & 2 defeats for Hythe 3's - Bramshaw up next - The Nicholas's & Gareth must be glad they missed this one.
