Hythe 2's vs Sway 2's

Hythe 2's Wide of The Mark

Hythe 2's suffer defeat after being taught a lesson by the Sway Vets on how to bowl straight.

Hythe must have fancied their chances when they turned up to see what looked like the Sway Vets side. Bellie once again lost the toss and Hythe were asked to bat. The useful combination of Kev James & Zac Millar opened up but James was soon walking to the changing room after Marshall lept through the air like a dolphin at Sea World at performance time - to take a catch off his own bowling.

Millar started to hit the walls looking for quick singles much to Wrighty's disgust. Because of this the puffing Wrighty started to go the high route connecting with 2 sixes but slicing a few for 1s as well. Wright retired and the Hythe batsman never really got going after that - thanks to good tight bowling from Stone 1-21 off and Stevenson 0-25 off 3.

Bell and Bowman went cheapley which brought Bryers to the crease with Millar. A cry from the Sway skipper 'Don't get em out' to his players was met with friendly jibes from the Hythe spectators. Millar 26* retired which brought back Wright to the crease for the final over. Hythe finishing on a slightly below par 120-3.

Hythe needed a good start with the ball and they got it when Millar run out Stephenson without facing. But then the Sway pair of Hurrell and Stone took over aided by wayward bowling. Hurell retired on 28* which brought Marshall to the crease. Hythe knew it wasn't going to be their day when Stone was dropped twice. Sway had reached 100 when Hythe did manage to get a second wicket - Stone caught by Bowman off Wright for 22. Marshall soon followed LBW to Bowman for 6 - Sway 112 for 3. Bennett joined Drayton to score the winning runs and Sway the deserved winners with 5 balls remaining.

62 runs conceeded in wides - the downfall for Hythe and the win means Sway almost certainly guaranteed the 2nd place spot in Division 2.
