HYTHE 2's GIFT FAWLEY TITLE Hythe 2's and Fawley produced the game of the day at the indoor league on Sunday. Unfortunately for Bellie's men they hit the self destruct button whilst chasing 121 to win & well placed at 68-0. Kev James 44 & Zac Millar 28 couldn't prevent Hythe going down by 4 runs and almost certainly hand the title to their old rivals.

Hythe 2's vs Fawley

Hythe 2's Hand Title To Rivals

Hythe 2's handed the Division 2 title to neighbours Fawley after suffering a 4 run defeat at Priestlands on Sunday. Chasing 121 to win and in a good position at 68-0 the Green Caps then quickly slumped to 87-3 and 96-5. Kev James 44* well supported by Zac Millar 28 left Hythe needing 7 off the last over but the Oilers run out Millar and won with 2 balls remaining.

Kev James in for Wrighty was Hythe's only change from the Pylewell victory last week. Playing two wicket keepers meant that Zac Millar had to bowl. Fawley batted first and thanks to some big hitting by Callum Earl added 36 for the first wicket before Leach was run out for 9 by Bell. Hickman joined Earl briefly before Earl retired 28*.

Hythe struggled with the wides and no balls (46 in total) and weren't the same in the field as per normal. The lads appeared to struggle to pick up the ball and Hickman made them pay. Hickman retired 25* then Bracher was run out by Saunders for 3. Hythe kept it tight at the end to reduce the Oilers to 120-2. Zac Millar the pick of the Hythe bowlers 0-21 off 3

Hythe got off to a strong start with Kev James and Zac Millar runing well between the wickets to pick up a string of 3's. James retired 25* with the score on 65 but then the Oilers fought back claiming a first wicket when Ewan Bell was caught off Leach for a duck 68-1. Two run outs in quick succession saw Mike Bowman 7 and Ali Bryers 1 back in the hutch - 76-3. At that point the game could have gone either way. Millar retired 25* but at 87 Saunders was caught off Smith for 2.

James and Millar bother returned - Hythe 96 for 4 at 10 overs. Millar was run out at 96 leaving James to bat on his own. 7 needed off the last over bowled by Wayne Smith. A well run 3 saw it doen to 4 needed off 3 but a direct throw saw Millar run out and James stranded on 44. Fawley win by 4 runs.
