In a season which sees the Forest Indoor League struggling to stay afloat - New Milton make a mockery of Division 3 by playing half a side with Southern League experience. Their reasons - they say its because they thought they would have to field junior players this season to field a side.
Hythe won the toss and elected to field first. Three wides in Kev McCarthys first over set the tone for the rest of the game. By 4 overs New Milton had moved onto 59 for 0 with Miller retiring on 26*. Two overs later with the score on 90 - Elliott retired 28*. The wides kept coming and Steve Taylor battered 4x4's & 2 sixes to retire on 28* - New Milton 129 for 0 after just 8.4 overs.
With batsman 4 & 5 in and the scoring rate slowing down - someone told Archie ' keep these two in - don't stump them out'. Skipper Jonjo Stovell chuffed with his last over maiden against 4th teamer R.Thomas was one of very few highlights of the innings as New Milton finished on 148 for 0. ( Hythe contribution 52 in wides)
Stovell and Tom Huxley got off to a decent reply - by 4 overs Hythe were 40 for 0. Huxley was stumped by D.Miller off Dawson for 13 in the 5th and then Tony North was run out without facing. Stovell retired at 58 for 2 but immeadiately afterwards Sam Page was caught & bowled for 0 - Hythe 58-3 off 8. McCarthy was then caught off L.Miller for 0 with the score on 70 bringing Stovell back into the game. Gilbert was then caught off Thomas for 10 before he was run out to leave Stovell out for 30 - Hythe 89 all out and a 59 run defeat.
