On the opening night of the Indoor League Hythe 3's got off to a winning start with a 8 run win over Clayhill Dragons.

Set 130 to win the Dragons were scoring at 13 an over until the Green Caps pulled it back to bowl them out for 121.

Hythe got off to a cracking start through skipper Jonjo Stovell and Tom Huxley. The pair put 49 on the board after only 3 overs as the Dragons early bowling was woeful. At 59 Stovell retired on 25 then in the 5th over Elliott Carley playing his first Indoor game was run out for 5. (Hythe 74 for 1)

Archie Gilbert also on debut - smashed the first ball for 6. He and Huxley took the score to 101 when Huxley retired on 26. Soon after Gilbert had no chance and was run out for 15. Sam Page 2 and Kev McCarthy 0 soon followed - Hythe 109 for 4. Stovell and Huxley returned - both took their scores over the 30 mark before both fell to Thompson - Hythe all out 129

After a tight first over from Kev McCarthy - Clayhill upped the pace through Fry and Cooper. After 2 overs Clayhill had moved onto 19 but in the 3rd they lost Cooper for 13 bowled by Huxley. Thompson joined Fry and at the end of the 4th over the score had moved onto 45. One run later - Kev McCarthy run out Fry for 20. At the half way stage Clayhill had moved onto 80-2 off 6 and looked in charge.

Hythe's bowling became ragged giving Gilbert little chance to stop the wides hitting the back wall and over throws were becoming all too frequent. Thompson retired 25* but Stovell boosted his troops when he bowled Hicks for 4. Next over Stovell then run out Cooper for 4. Sam Page then run out Steadman for 18. Clayhill 110 for 5 off 9. Thompson was left to bat on his own and after scoring 8 off the over Sam Page had him caught behind by Gilbert for 34 and Hythe win by 8 runs.

Thanks to Woodsy for umpiring and Pauline for scoring.
