Saturday 26th June
Richards 62 Stars In Super 3's Show

Tom RICHARDS 62
Hythe 3rd XI went top of Central 4 on Saturday after a top showing against fellow title contenders Sway.
Hythe saw off the excellent bowling of David Steadman to score 226 for 6. Tom Richards again top scoring with 62. In a niggly affair Hythe then reduced the forest side to 158 all out with Chiverton, Prentice and Josh Mead getting two wickets a piece.
Hythe went into the game without leading wicket taker Kev McCarthy but Josh Mead and Zac Millar returned. Sway won the toss and inserted the home side.
A 39 run partnership for the first wicket off 6 overs was a good start considering Hampshire's and the divisions leading bowler David Steadman was bowling at one end and. At 39 though Millar went bowled by Nailor for 12. Two runs later and Skipper Tony North followed - bowled by Steadman for 22. - Hythe 41 for 2. That brought together Tom Richards and Sam Mead and the pair added 76 off 13 overs when Mead was caught off Moore for 33 just after drinks. Sway suffered a blow when skipper and wicket-keeper Steve Keen came off the field struggling with the heat. Hythe took advantage and never looked back.
Tom Richards and Mike Graham added 76 for the 5th wicket with Richards scoring another fine fifty. Graham went caught by Keen off Nailor for 26 and Hythe were soon five down when Richards was caught off Nailor for 62. Hythe 187 for 5 off 37. Jonjo Stovell and Ian Prentice then added a valuable 39 off 5 overs to end the innings at 226 for 6. Prentice finishing on 25*
After another excellent Mead/Millar tea Hythe took to the field and got instant reward (though it didn't please eveyone in the ground) Pete Hammett judged out LBW by Steve Chiverton for 1. Hurrell and Owen then added 33 before Owen was bowled by Blackwell for 26. Hurrell (26) and Baughan took the score to 68 off 17 when Hurrell was run out by Richards. Baughan (24) was then bowled by Chiverton - Sway 78 for 4. Steadman and Glasspool kept Sway in the game with a 38 run partnership for the 5th wicket before Glasspool was bowled by Josh Mead for 18. Same over Mead had Moore stumped by Tony North - Sway 117 for 6. Smith soon followed - run out for 3 by Sam Mead and Horton and Nailor followed for ducks. Horton bowled by Tom Huxley and Nailor caught by Chiverton off Prentice for 0. The game was wrapped up in the 32nd over when Steadman (38) was very well caught by Sam Mead.
