HYTHE UNDER 11's vs O.T's & ROMSEY 'B'
Under 11's Come Out Second Best In Another Close Game.
Jacob MOULD - 12
Hythe Under 11’s fell to another close defeat at Jones Lane on Sunday at the hands of O.T's & Romsey 'B'. Scoring only 239 batting first, was always going to be a tough ask to defend for the young green caps - made harder by only claiming 4 Romsey wickets.
Hythe won the toss and elected to bat first. Hythe opened with Skipper Neal Reid and Harry Swainston and despite losing 2 wickets and only scoring 4 rusn they managed to end their 4 overs at +4. Second pair Tom Knight-Owen and Lewie Faye got the Hythe innings going when they finished wicketless for 8 runs and taking the score 218.
Hythe's 3rd and youngest pairing of Sam Copley and James Millyard struggled against some tidy bowling and were dismissed 3 times after scoring only 4. That took the score down to 220 with 4 overs to go but Jacon Mould (12) and Tom Ladbury gave the green caps something to bowl at by adding 19 for the last pairing - Hythe 239 for 6 at the close.
Hythe needed early wickets and Tom Ladbury obliged bowling A.Stuart in the first over. Sam Copley then bowled J.Maidment in the fourth over to leave O.T's 202 after 4. Hythe were 204.
O.T's second pairing added 19 and lost just one wicket when Lewie Faye bowled D.Curtis. 221 for 3 at the 8 over stage but it was O.T's third apiring of O.Shapland and S.Trodd who did the damage for Hythe scoring 22 without loss to take the score to 243 after 12. Already infront OT'S added another 14 for the loss of one wicket in the final pairing. Jacb Mould getting the only wicket to fall in the final overs.
O.T's had won by 18 runs in a good game and Hythe will go down to Tuesdays training with Coach Tom knowing that more batting practice is needed.
