Hythe 1's got their season back on track with a 3 wkt win over New Milton @ Jones Lane. The old Simon Wright finally turned up as he lead the green caps to victory with 4-23 and 42*.

The occasion was marred by a double injury to overseas Adriaan de Jager who has damaged his groin and then took a blow to the head.

New Milton batted first on what looked a Tongsy special. After a good start of which New Milton scored 24 off the first 6 overs - Jon Weall got the breakthrough when he had N.Lewis caught behind by Kev James for 4. Next over and Richie Froggett did the same to J.Whitehurst - New Milton 24 for 2. The 3rd wicket pair of Garnett and the inform J.Prodomo added 31 before Froggett bowled Garnett for 9.

Saunders replaced Weall with a tidy spell of bowling whilst De Jager struggled at the other end with his groin. De Jager's 5.4 overs going for 30 before he came off with a groin problem. At drinks New Milton were 101 for 3 with Prodomo bringing up his fifty inc 10x4's. The pair added 54 in 12 overs before Saunders got the breakthrough having Prodom caught behind by Kev James for 69. He then removed S.Watts in the same way and then bowled K.Locke for 2. - New Milton 129 for 6 off 30.

Two more wickets fell in quick succession - skipper Steve Taylor was bowled by Wright for 5 and then J.Waller LBW by Wright for 4. Saunders finished his excellent 10 overs 3-24 and it was Wrighty who finished the innings off by taking the final two wickets T.Clarke caught by Dixon for 2 and A.Jessop LBW for 1.

New Milton all out for 172 in 39.2 overs. Wright finishing with 4-23.

Hythe got off to a cracker in response. Rob James smashed 2x4's off Tilbury's first over and then Matt Howe went two better 4x4's off Wallers first over - Hythe 24 for 0 after 2. Howe continued to play his shots but in only the 4th over he was out caught behind for 20 (5x4's). 7 runs later and James got out the the same way for 18 - Hythe 39 for 2.

A partnership of 32 in 6 overs kept Hythe's run rate up in the 6's before Dixon was harshly judged out LBW (not for the first time) for 11 off Taylor. Kev James was caught off Taylor for 2 and Hythe were 91 for 4 off 19. At drinks thay progressed to 104 for 4 with Froggett looking in good nick. At 115 though Froggett was bowled by Locke for a fine 48 inc 6x4's & 1x6. Hythe 115 for 5.

A match winning stand of 55 between Simon Wright and Tom Porter swung the game back Hythe's way. Porter finally going for 16 but by then he had put the Green Caps in reach of victory. Hythe finally got to their target in the 33rd over with Wright finishing on 41 not out (8x4's)

A win and 22 points for Hythe - lets hope de Jager's groin heels quickly as Hythe's next game is at Old Basing.
