News From The Meeting

1. OFFICERS FOR 2009

Two forced changes need to be made for the new season.

Ann Howe has stepped down as Secretary of the club and Sue Guymer as Welfare Officer.

I know you will support me in thanking them for their excellent support to the club over the past few years.

The Secretary Role is a difficult job especially in winter months when you get letters coming in from the Hampshire League etc, and the cricketers hiberbate in the winter so you never see anyone to get the answers. There's a lot of chasing to do and Ann has done a brilliant job

Sue took on the role as Welfare Officer 3 years ago when no one else wanted to do it. Behind the seens she has done an excellent job attending meetings for us amd making sure we are upto scratch with everything.

Chiv has agreed to tie in Secretary with Fixture Secretary for the time be, whilst I am very pleased to announce that Tina Page has agreed to take over as Welfare Officer.

I am pleased to say that Woody (Chairman), Tony Woodhouse (Treasurer), Brian Marwood (President) have all agreed to stay on.

2. CAPTAINS FOR 2009

Back in the 90's we use to spend an hour on this subject trying to find skippers for our teams.

I am pleased to say however that both Simon Dixon (1st XI skipper for the 5th Year) and Mike Bowman (2nd XI for the 7th Year) have both agreed to stand again. Takes a lot of committment to do it for just one year so thanks guys. Robbie James and Gary Howe will again act as their Vice-Captains.

Sundays however sees a new partnership in change. James Page will take over as Captain whilst Matt Howe will be his number 2.

3. COLTS SET UP FOR 2009

Once again the Colts set up will be run under the guidance of Richie Froggett. Himself and Sue need to be congratulated on the excellent work they have done for the club over the past year.

Richie said the club will be running four sides this year at Under 11, 13, 15 and 17 age groups.

J.P.Fenton will be running the Under 11's, Richie Froggett the Under 13's, Sally Harding Under 15's and Ben Smith will be Captaining the Under 17's with support of senior members off the field.

Four Colts have been selected for the New Forest Rep Squads which is an excellent achievement - Matt Young, Harry Smith, Zac Miller and Kieran Chalmers

4. SUBSCRIPTIONS FOR 2009

Tony Woodhouse whilst stating that the section is in good health - to be wary of spending too much. If anyone wishes a copy of the finances then please e.mail me. Rich Froggett stated that he cannot remember us having so much money in the bank at this stage of the year.

Members voted that 2009 Subscriptions will remain the same for 2009 though if they are not paid by 31st May they will be increased to £50.

Match Fees and Colts Fees remain the same.

*** To allow us to do this we will be looking to have more Social Events and Advertise the Clubhouse for Hire.

Tea Money for Away Sides will have to go upto £40 for 2009

5. NEW KIT SUPPLIERS

A range of kit was on show from 6 companies and the members unanimously decided that D&M Sports are to be our New Kit Supplier. However if they cannot come up with a Cap to match ours in quality then McLellans will remain for Caps only.

D&M are putting some designs together and we should have them for Nets next week.

6. OTHER POINTS FROM ROUND THE TABLE

Mike explained that we will have to increase the Bar Prices to coincide with the breweries.

More support is needed in running the bars on match days, especially the colts matches.

Mike also suggested looking at a covers for the square to avoid Saturday Morning Showers cancelling games.

Newsletter up and running once a month to let everyone know whats going on. (Its NOT the link on the website) If you missed the AGM and want a copy let me know - chiv.com@virgin.net

No Overseas Player planned for this year.

Remember if you do Online Shopping - Sign up on the website to Easyfunding -Buy through them from 600 Online Stores and the club gets a payment. Matt Howe made the club £4 last week through the link to e.bay last week. Thanks Matt.

As a Club we need to get a better association with the Council and Youth Club. Mike made point that Jones Lane is now the poorest outfield in the 4 County Divisions.

Dixie wants to re-introduce weekly Senior Training Nights and has been in touch with Totton & Eling about using their nets on a weekly basis.

I think thats it - If not let me know and I will update later.
