1983 saw Hythe finish in their highest ever league position -
Runners Up in the Southern League Premier Division
The previous season they had finished 8th but George Knights
had aquired the services of Mel Hussain and Mel was to form a
opening partnership with Dave Price that was top draw. Between
them they would score 1500 runs in just 14 matches.
Hythe started the season badly - winning only 1 of the first 5
games but a strong finish saw them win their last 7 games to
finish 2nd. What with current day regulations
