The popular Welshman joins equally popular Irishman Emett Farrell as a definite for the weekend. He's looking forward to showing daughter Emily the place where she was born!
There are also hopes that man mountain Mark Giacheri may be enticed back from Australia for the game. He is now training to be a teacher [no discipline problems there!] and if we can get some support for paying the airfare he's alsmot certaoin to come. Anyone who can help can contact me at dave@da-group.co.uk
Brett's past and present side will take on the RFU's charity Wooden SpoponA-A's side which will be playing its first game in the North East - a real tribute to Brett and to Hartlepool. The Wooden Spoon does great work in the community.
"Spoon works by supporting people and organisations who can deliver services that make a difference to young people. It’s no ‘flash in the pan’ contribution, either. Most of the funds we donate go directly to capital projects that have a lasting impact. Spoon currently has over 60 ongoing projects – with funding in excess of £2.3 million – active across the UK and Ireland. Current and past projects include a sports centre for disabled children at the Percy Hedley Foundation, Newcastle costing £250,000."
Former West flanker Shaun Cassidey is actively involved with Wooden Spoon and is busy putting together the side which will take on Brett's XV.
