Team for Sheffield

Team for Sheffield

Paul Moss has won his fitness battle but Chocky Davies will be missing from the side which winds the season up at Sheffield. He will, however, be on the bus as the lads help him wet baby Elizabeth's head.

But first of all there will be the small matter of ending a reasonably successful season on a happy note.

There is nothing at stake for either side but the West coaches are anxious to finish on a high note as preparations already begin for next season. Messrs Stubbs, Burgon and Stabler have turned a team which struggled to score points into one which frequently runs in five tries and more. Now they are looking to next season keen to challenge at the top.

Dave Stubbs has managed to realse the natural talents of the squad but is the first to pay tribute to Messrs MacLure and Lupton for handing over a young squad which was "very well technically coached."

Darren Thomas will be missing next season as he heads off for a spell in Australia and University will beckon for some of the up and coming players. But it is expected that most of the rest of the squad will be intact with more talent moving up from the Colts. Next season marks the club's 125th and with plans to improve on the facilities at Brinkburn it promises to be another very important one in the club's renaissance.

But first there is Sheffield.

West: Darren Thomas, Martin Todd, Greg Edwards, Peter Hodagson, Chris Lambert, Paul Moss, Davy Tighe, Anth Carr, Brett Cullinane, Carl Robinson, Paul Rudd, Carl Miller, Dan Boatman, Henry Tones, Tim Sawyer. Reps: James Masshedar, Dave Garside, Jonathan Norris.
