Very few coaches could boast such player retention never mind such success. Steve has been helped on the way by a host of talented coaches including Dave Short, who handed back the reins at the beginning of the season, and a host of willing and hard working parents such as the Lamberts, the Dewhirsts, the Robinson's, the Greenwells and the Noggers!

Along the way there have been County Cups, tours [including one this Easter to Rouen in France] and they've even survived the loss of England internationals such as Gareth Eddy who is now on Gloucester's books.

Mikey Young has played above his age with this group of players and along with Aaron Myers more England recognition beckons.

But all fine things come to a conclusion and already this tremendous squad is breaking up. Mikey is very much in Falcons long term plans while Chris Lambert has cemented his place in the first team, and so would Myers if he wasn't required by England Under 18's. Other lads have part-time jobs while others are discovering the joys of town centre nightlife.

But there is time for one last hurrah and nobody would begrudge this lot one more success. They travel to Moseley on Saturday for a 2.00 kick off to face opponents with an excellent track record in this competition. It will be a tall order, but somehow these lads manage to pull off the unlikely thanks in no small part to the superb leadership of the likes of Tom Dixon.

Last season they annoyed the whole of Yorkshire by winning the Under 17's Yorkshire League at the first attempt against some quality sides. Will that prove to be their swwansong or is there more glory to come? They have our support and best wishes.
