With the Stags travelling to the Friarage for a 1.00 pm kick off final selection won't be made until the whole squad assembles at Brinkburn.
It's unlikely to contain many surprises with wingers Paul Hagan and Danny Weegram and scrum half Paul Williamson the new faces in a squad of 22.
Pre-season has been a mixed bag to say the least. We were contacted by Morley, Westoe and Blaydon who all wanted to travel to Brinkburn to give our new pitch a try-out and our team a hard baptism to the season. For varous reasons all three cried off so we twice had to hire an expensive charabanc to travel to Broughton Park and then Hawick.
The perfroamnce in the narrow defeat at broughton was patchy but everhyone was delighted with the way the lads performed at Hawick including new signing Paul Hagam who has been hampered by work commitments. He has been the league's leading points scorer for the past two seasons but it was his defensive work which impressed at Hawick.
Fellow winger Danny Weegram has also been impressive in pre-season. The former West junior is pacy and a cool finisher and could start the game
Rovers have had the benefit of one league game but at a price. Acton coach Steve Wallis and line-out expert Stu Ryder both picked up knocks in the heavy home defeat by Sheffield and are likely to miss the derby.
Former west winger Andrew Lilley waill return but Mickey Walton is still missing while veteran Simon Rutherford has been persuaed to turn out in the centre.
the two new wignings from New Zealand are in the squad. Front row Jared Stevens looks like being on the bench while Jason White wil be in the second row. Chris Wray will be the ref for our first game on the new Catcote Road pitch.
