Yours truly will be voting in favour as will fellow Board member Phil Webber who said: "A number of members have expressed a desire to see the fixture reinstated. We could toss a coin to see who hosts the game but frankly a game of Tippet sounds a lot more fun."
The idea is to play the game at Athletic's club on a Friday night. Each club will put forward a team of three players who must be current club members. The best of three game will decide who is at home on Boxing Day with the losers hosting the game at Easter.
Mail Sports Editor Roy Kelly is promising a front page picture in the Mail and former West member Arthur Pickering, who is now News Editor at Tyne Tees TV, is almost promising a camera crew.
Next season we'll revert to norm taking turns to host the lucrative Boxing Day game.
West are still anxious to maintain the Nathan Painter Memorial fixture with Tech which could be a regular end of season game.
If the West v Rovers game does go ahead this Boxing Day both clubs will be anxious to ensure that supporters get together in the bar afterwards.
Tales of coaches waiting to take away team supporters to their own club at the final whistle have left a nasty taste in some mouths. Perhaps an inter club Tippet tournament after the game may go down well!!!
