The backs are one area where we have struggled for cover and both of those players will be fighting for first team places. They'll be joined by 20 year old Dave Garside - son of the boxing legend and former West player - who is a second row'back row.
Scrum half Williamson has already been impressing during training while "Mash" is a lively full-back. Both lads, of course, learnt their rugby in the West junior ranks. There'll also be pressure for places from up and coming players from last year's 17s, with a whole clutch of them becoming eligible for first team rugby, and likely to join Chris Lambert [wing] and Gav Robinson[fly half] who have already had first team run-outs.
But with the Stags in a very competitive league and the new Colts in the Yorkshire League [playing Sundays] we will need all the players we can get.
We also need experience to go with the very young squad and Stu Bennett has offered to delay his retirement.
He says: "To be honest the whole place is buzzing and we are already getting 30 lads out training. It's something I want to be part of."
