The West Development side has come on tremendously this season - for most of the lads their first in senior rugby. They have been greatly helped by the likes of veteran stand-off Graham Frankland, as well as one or two of the the other Ams who have helped make up sides this season.
Players like Ryan Phillips,Carl Miller and Phil Wallis have benefited from first team experience and it shows on the pitch. It all bodes well for the Stags first experience of the Teesside League next season - our membership will be formalised at the league's AGM on May 3.
But first there is the small matter of the historic Pyman Cup and a chance for Greg Edwards' lads to take centre stage. They have got to the final by running in more than 80 points against Athletic and Hartepool II's and only conceding one try in those games.
It's been entertaining stuff. Rugby played in the modern way with excellent support play plus pace and good handling. The Under 17's play in the same style and their annointment as Yorshire League A Division champions this season, as well as County Cup winners for the fifth year in a row, bodes extremely well for the club's future.
Hopefully there'll be a good turn out of players from other West sides as well as club supporters to cheer the Stags on. It's the least that Sammy Hutton, Gary Miller, Greg Edwards and Co. deserve.
