| With the absence of Sean Cairns, Tom Dixon and Ben Richardson a
lot was being asked of the pack, but the backs welcomed back Michael Young
for his first appearance since October. A tight first game against Darlington saw West slip through 5-3 after a try from Andy Robson and a missed penalty from Darlington. West were to concede no more points in the tournament. A penalty try awarded when Michael Young’s run was blocked, and a try from Stephen Short, with a conversion by Gavin Robinson, secured a 12-0 win over Guisborough. Another try from Robson saw Sunderland defeated 5-0. County Cup final opponents Durham City went down 7-0 after a Chris Lambert try and a Robinson conversion, and in the final game tries from Lambert and Luke Austin, both converted by Robinson, beat Billingham 14-0. Next Sunday afternoon sees the County Cup Final against Durham, at Darlington, with a 2.15 kick-off. |
Under17's win Houghton Festival

West Under 17s confirmed their first trophy of the season by winning the Houghton Tournament on Sunday.
With only six teams entered the tournament’s format was a round robin.
