The first Tuesday in July is West's traditional start to the season although a few players will inevitably be missing through holidays.
One player who will be there is Stu Bennett who is desperate to put last season's misfortunes behind him. He broke his arm in pre-season in Ireland, came back and did it again and then got himself sent off against Liverpool St Helens and misses the start of the season .
Coach John Stabler is hoping to have one or two new faces in the squad but says: "Getting new players is not easy. Everyone in the North East seems to chasing the same old faces. I am happy that we can bring on lads from the junior section such as Andrew Hare who had a fine game on the wing against Tech in the Nathan Painter Memorial match."
