The refs who are part of Durham Refs found themselves with distinctly different games to control. Two of them got the Under 13's and Under 14's while the third got the memorial game were kicking wasn't allowed and try scorers had to attempt their own conversions.
Once the visiting official and seen the feeble attempts he decided to take all the conversions himself with some success. Then, after one of his decisions was queried, swopped shirts and ended the game playing as did his two colleagues who had come to watch the last ten minutes. In fact, one scored the final try.
There was also some good rugby and a tremendous occasion for the Willgress family to enjoy.
Well done to Andy Quinn and Co for all their hard work. They may all have recovered by midweek - but don't bank on it.
It is rumoured that the final score was 36-36.
