They drew at Alnwick and last week beat Sandal by 30 points despite having eight regulars missing.
But as we proved last season we lift our game against the top sides and the win over Rovers has given the whole club a boost. It was the best team performance so far this season with Jonny Boatman settling in and scoring the winning try. New centre Tony Gamwell had a real baptism of fire, but his strength will give a new dimension to the backs, while Phil Wallis will have been boosted by his performance as a second half sub.
Phil hasn't had much chance to show his running skills at 10 but came agonisingly close to getting over the line against Rovers - and was then in the clear when Brian Foreman knocked on.
Phil said: "It was one of those things that everyone but the ref spotted. I was clear, and I had Toddy outside me, but Brian deliberately knocked on and then kicked into touch. It was all he could do to stop a certain try! I couldn't believe it and neither could Brian! I thought it was my moment of glory but it was one of those things and at least we got justice when Jonny went over.
Tim Sawyer is still recovering from his dislocated shoulder and may not be fit while Brett Cullinane managed to get through the full 80 minutes at Rovers.
