Fancy Playing In the Sun?

By Dave Picken - September 3 2004
Former Westie Kevin Owen Ellis is looking for some Hartlepool rugby talent to help his Spanish club to even greater success. His new club is Sitges near Barcelona and he's been in touch to offer accommodation and a job.
Kevin's dad played alongside Ronnie Greig while Kevin himself joined the club in 1976 and ended playing for the seconds in 1983. Then he headed off on a career which took him to London and  Norway before he plumped for warmer climes and exotic Barcelona in 1994.
He's still playing rugby for Sitges veterans and is a leading light of the club which now plays first team rugby in the Catalyuna First Division. He's specially looking for a back row, scrum half and standoff.
Sitges www.rugbyclubsitges.com  is now becoming well known for  its 7 a side beach rugby tournament [below] which last year attracted teams from Cork, Finchley and Paris.

The town itself is a few miles south of Barcelona and is known to one Jimmy Parkinson who describes as "like Seaton only with hot sun, blue sea and class!"
Kevin says: "We are interested in any Hartlepool players who are interested in a season in Spain. We can provide ample accommodation and job in construction between September and May. It would be a good opportunity to learn a bit of Spanish and get a good tan."
