John Stabler led Chocky's defence at a Northern RFU hearing in front of John Spencer and Geoff Cooke at Brighouse rugby club.
The same body had previously ruled that the Durham RFU hearing that tried to impose a 12 month ban on Chocky for the same offence had been unlawful - including the fact that Chocky was nursing a badly broken ankle and couldn't attend that hearing.
He was at Brighouse to deny two serious charges of assaulting an official and threatening an official. Both charges were dismissed after hearing evidence over a conference phone call from both the referee and the touch judge.
The verdict was that Chocky should be banned for 12 weeks from August 12th. The panel took into account an eight week ban already imposed by West's own disciplinary committee after Chocky had admitted verbal abuse.
Club President Reg Turner, who chairs our disciplinary committee, and was a witness to the Westoe incident went to Brighouse as a witness but was not called.
Club Chairman Stuart Murray was present and said: "To be frank hardly anyone comes out of this with any credit and it is best for all concerned that a line is now drawn under it. The panel heard all the evidence and the decision of a 12 week ban is fair."
