Sandal have picked up some form with Aussie fly half Jake Havebond scoring freely and doing a one man demolition of Westoe last week. Jake is allegedly the bloke who got off the train, asked where he was and then inquired whether there were any rugby union clubs in the area.
Of course, we know a fair bit about Jake. Sandal's fall from grace has mirrored our own, they are the one team we have played regularly over the past few seasons and, if they avoid another drop, we would be quite pleased as they are a great bunch.
Irrespective of tomorrow's game they should be OK. Realistically they need one more win out of the last three to take them to 16 points.
For our part there is a strong feeling in the camp that we want fourth place. Westoe also want it. But we've beaten them twice and finishing fourth would expunge the minor disaster of those two points we lost for not registering Steve Black in the win at Stockton.
Training this week has been hampered by the injuries to Darren Thomas, Stuart Bennett and Henry Tones, plus Carlo Robinson has been suffering with the flu.
Henry looks the most doubtful and will be having a fitness test. Tim Sawyer is back after his international triumph with England Deaf and will slot in either at hooker or, if Henry doens't make it, in the back row. Otherwise it will be much the same side which ran Hull so close last week.
The Stags are also travelling to Sandal to take on their second team. Like ours it is a very young outfit and promises to provide an entertaining game.
