Thats when young Toddy showed how fast he was by breaking from inside his own half and leaving the much vaunted Westoe defence in his wake.

We'd started the game without Black and Thompson, so Todd was back at full back with Dan Abrahams making his debut on the wing.

Chocky was back at flanker, but got the red card, along with Westoe second row Micky Holland, after a strange incident in the 20th minute. Westoe had scored their only try of the game with a close run along the touchline. The try was given but the Westoe touchjudge was on the pitch and got involved in a face to face with Chocky. While this was going on Holland ran in and punched Chocky on the back of the head.

There went our best line out jumper but Carl Miller more than made up with an excellent afternoon. The whole pack played well, with Carlo back to his ball carrying best, and voted Man of the Match by most of the crowd.

We went on to run in two more quick first half tries through Darren Thomas and Davy Tighe with Davy converting two of them.

Carlo was involved in both. He made ground in three separate phases of play, before finally breaking into the home 22 and slipping a beautiful ball to Davy Tighe who appeared on his shoulder, and scampered home under the posts.

Then, straight from the kick off, we took possession and attacked with Rudd taking possession from a maul. He fed Carlo who made space for Tim Sawyer to send in Darren to leave the home side reeling.

So it was 17-11 at half time with Westoe having the wind and the slope in the second. They have a pacy set of backs, but our defence was simply superb and, with Allan Milne in tremedous form, we kept them out - especially in a final frantic quarter.

Skipper Stu Bennett said: "This was just a tremendous team performance with everyone playing for each other against a very good and competitive Westoe side. Its never an easy place to go to but there's no doubt we deserved our win. The lads are bubbling, and we can't wait to have a tilt at Hull next week to see if we can end their unbeaten run."

Unfortunately, the Stags game was abandoned after 20 minutes because of a neck injury to our hooker Dan Pattinson. It was diagnosed as whiplash and he should be back playing in a few weeks.
