Davy injured his shoulder in the Boxing Day defeat at Rovers and has just returned to training but will have to fight for his place.It's the same for Club Captain Tim Sawyer who is recovering from knee surgery and could be back in time for the Horden game on February 14th . He will also have to work hard to get his place back in a side which is unbeaten in the league for the past six games.

Selection problems are a pleasant change for coaches at West. Stu Bennett has been playing his best rugby at No 8 and seems to be relishing being team captain. So, when Tim does return, he may be asked to play at hooker where he has been outstanding in the past. That would mean Brett switching to his preferred position at prop, with the option of the ever improving Anth Carr partnering his mate Carl Miller at lock.

Paul Rudd will be doing that job at Middlesbrough after his brief, but more than useful, sojourn on the wing against Stockton. "Garse" admits that the form which made him Player of the Year last season has dipped a little - perhaps his good handling and tackling on the wing will have helped.

Steve Black returns on the wing after his groin strain. I didn't see it, but apparently his try against Redcar was something special and his return will be welcome.

Phil Wallis is looking better as each game goes by and his goalkicking has meant that losing Davy Tighe has not been as big a blow as expected.

With Chocky relishing his role as flanker this looks like a strong side. We'll need to be at our best against a Boro side pushing for a play off place, but we could, and perhaps should, have done better than a draw at Brinkburn so it promises to be close game.

The Stags will also be looking to continue their good form at the Boro. Colin Cheslin nabbed three sharp tries last week and there is no reason why they shouldn't chalk up another win.
