Billingham II's 24 Stags 33
First Try
A superb hat trick of tries from outside centre Colin Cheslin gave the Stags a deserved win against last season's winners of the County Second Team Cup. John Painter got the victory on track with a typical bustling try while fellow front row Ryan Phillips went over with some style.

Paul Moss got four conversions to complete an excellent afternoon of rugby against a Billingham side which also had it share of young faces and no little skill.

But with his twin also having a fine game it was young Colin - normally a scrum half - who danced his way through to make the difference.

He did it in front of most of the first team squad and coaches.

Apart from John Painter and Phil Gilbraith this was very much a "Colts" side with the addition of two South African NO 8's who are studying in Sunderland. They had a half each and looked the part.

Mark Thompson began his first team comeback with a steady second half and looked to have suffered no ill effects.
