Team Selection Delayed

Team Selection Delayed
Carl Miller
The management is delaying the final team selection because of a couple of niggles and the odd cold. But the chances are the main change will be in the back row where Phil Gilbraith gets his reward for a solid show when he came on at Brid last week.

That will release Paul Rudd to return to the second row in place of the suspended Chocky. "Garse" has been doing well alongside the rapidly improving Carl Miller but didn't look totally comfortable in the back row last week.

Stu Bennett is out with a popped rib so the back row is likely to be Tones, Gilbraith and Sawyer.

Greg Edwards is in the squad as back row cover and so is Chummer and Geritz for the front row.

Martin Todd will be at full back in a back division which is starting to have a familiar look about it. That means Darren Thomas, who can play anywhere in the backs, is likely to start on the bench.

West Todd, Black, Hodgson, Milne, Hare, Wallis, Tighe, Carr, Cullinane, Robinson, Miller, Rudd, Tones, Gilbraith, Sawyer [capt] Cholmondeley, Thomas, Geritz.

York are still looking for their first win and make a number of changes. In the backs, Jonathan Kemp retains his place on the wing but dangemeran Rob Kama returns on the other wing in place of Sam Arkle and Ben Quick, who missed the Northern game through illness, replaces Craig Ventress. Simon Thornton comes in at 4 for skipper Pete Curtis who was also a late withdrawal last week for the victory over Northern. In the absence of Dave Dorking, props James Nuttal and Andy Smith return to the squad.

York 15 Mike Ford, 14 Jonathan Kemp, 13 Rob Taylor, 12 Sean Bass, 11 Rob Kama, 10 Ben Quickk, 9 James Arkle, 1 James Nuttal, 2, Jon Sharpe, 3 Simon Humphries, 4 Simon Thonrton, 5 Brad MacDonald, 6 Andy Kay, 7 Stu Davis, 8 Ian Davis. 16 Grant Williams, 17 Andy Smith 18 Chris MacDonald.
