A ring rusty Colts side were always second best to a well organised Middlesbrough side. This is the first time the lads have played together this season and with so many of them finding it hard to train its hardly surprising they were so disjointed.

It also has to be said that the Boro were more up for this game and deserve to go through. They forged into a 7-0 lead almost from the start taking advantage of bad handling to kick through and score under the posts.

We equalised with a rare bit of decent handling which saw Martin Todd race over.

We couldn't repeat that until halfway through the second half when we trailing by ten points. This time Michael Wilson had acres of space on his wing.

But like England the visitors sealed their victory with a well taken drop goal.
