West Hartlepool Stags play their first game of the season away to Darlington on Saturday with a 3.00 pm kick off. The side, which is managed by Gary Miller and Sammy Hutton, will be packed full of the up and coming talent which the regular first teamers admit has got them on their toes!

Already Martin Todd and Anth Carr have impressed on first team duty and can expect many more games. Carl Miller has been used on the wing by the first team - much to his surprise. He makes no secret of the fact that he prefers being in the pack and he'll be keen to show what he can do on Saturday.

17 year old fly half Paul Moss hasn't looked out of place in the first team either - and did remarkably well against the seasoned Rugby League players fielded by Hull last weekend.

Flanker Greg Edwards is also impressing the management, and you wouldn't bet against him getting a first team run out soon. Its the same for quite a few other members of the squad, although some of them aren't helping their chances by missing lots of training sessions. Its no coincidence that the Colts who are getting their chance have been very regular trainers.

Darlington will also field a young squad bolstered by one or two first teamers. We will probably give full back Tom Rance, second row Paul Rhodes, centre Tom Steele and play anywhere you ask Peter Hodgson, a run out

Hodgy was on superb form before taking an ill-timed break in Australia and will be desperate to make a first team return against Westoe. Tom Rance will also be in the frame now he is returning to Durham University.

The Stags will be expected to play in the smae way as the First XV. Everyone trains together and the way the youngsters have fitted in and reacted to the training is giving everyone involved with the club a boost.

The Stags second game will also be against Westoe at Brinkburn.
