| The introduction of the Stags side has
given the club a massive boost with competition for
places already making a difference. Getting them all
together on the coach ... and then back to Hartlepool for
a refined tour of the town's more genteel hostelries
..... can only boost an already excellent team spirit. The Stags are due to play their first game on September 27th against Westoe - but efforts are being made to find them a fixture on September 20th when the Firsts don't have a game. Watch this space. |

| Carl Miller and Martin Todd [right] made their league
debuts against Sandal and didn't look out of place in a
side with a host of excellent performances. Anth Carr could join them on Saturday. The big prop has impressed the management in pre-season and is likely to be on the bench as Gez steps up to take Carlo Robinson's place. Carlo has unwisely booked his holiday in Corfu during the season. |

| Like Peter Hodgson, who is nervously keeping in touch from Australia, he will have to fight for his place on his return. Thommo is still feeling his injured foot and has been to see a specialist so he is looking very doubtful. Worse still his understudy Panda Hare has a bruised heel and may also miss out. | |

Fortunately, the registration form
fiasco is now resolved which means that Tom Steele [left]
is eligible. 17 year old fly half/inside centre Paul Moss
would have had his chance against Sandal, if he had been
registered, but then went and cut his arm playing for the
Colts. The team will be selected after training tonight but there are likely to be some changes. |
| The management like to keep everyone
involved, and on their toes, and won't hesitate to give
the younger players their chance. So there maybe a
surprise or two. Hull will be provide us with a sterner test than Sandal. They were up at the top of the league last year and ran in five tries against Driffield in a warm up game conceeding only one. They weren't in league action last week but did take a Powergen hammering at National 3 North side Waterloo losing by 51 points to 10. |
