He is looking forward to a "final big season" with West after persuading his good lady that he will be a long time retired once he does finally pack in.
Stu announced his premature retirement at the end of last season, after having to face some high powered business meetings battered and bruised, and sporting a nasty black eye.
He says: "A bit of a rest has done me a power of good and I've kept on training and feel really fit.
"I've been flattered that a couple of other clubs have sounded me out, but this is an important year for West and we have to do well in this league what with the new clubhouse on the horizon."
John Stabler has been turning up to the odd training session to watch and is still busy helping the club behind the scenes.
Typically the 40 year old has now said he will play for the Stags whenever his duties and his legs allow.
